The LGBT Charter
The LGBT Domestic Abuse Project has been working with domestic abuse organisations and gender based violence organisations since 2007 to provide training, policy support and advice, and guidance and information on inclusive practices. One of the main ways that we have undertaken this work is through the LGBT Charter.
The LGBT Charter is a capacity building programme that supports your organisation to proactively include LGBTI people in every aspect of your work; protecting your LGBTI staff and providing high quality service to your service users.
The programme has been developed to support your organisation to undertake training and review policies, practice and resources to make sure that you're not only meeting legislative needs but are as inclusive as you can be.
You will be guided through the programme with the help of our expert facilitators, step by step LGBT Charter workbook and your dedicated LGBT Charter Manager who will be there to advise you throughout the process. We will draw upon our decade of learning, research, and guidance to support you to understand LGBTI people’s needs and experiences of domestic abuse and gender based violence services.
Being awarded the LGBT Charter enables you to send a positive message, with confidence, that your organisation is a champion of LGBT inclusion where LGBTI employees and service users will be safe, supported and included. The LGBT Charter makes a clear statement that equality and diversity are at the heart of your organisation.
